An annual clinical breast exam is part of an annual Well-Women exam. We recommend an annual screening mammogram starting at age 40 to 45.
Monthly breast self-exams are the best way to familiarize yourself with the feel of breast tissue so that you are more likely to feel a lump or other abnormality. Carry out the exam about one week after your cycle ends due to hormone changes in the breast.

- Lumps
- Nipple discharge
- Swelling
- Redness
- Nipple retraction
- Any other concerns
