This is where you will find a list of vaccinations and immunizations that we recommend.
Tdap
We recommend Tdap immunization for pregnant mothers to protect against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough). Tdap vaccine given to pregnant women can protect newborn babies against pertussis. Your healthcare provider will check for any allergies or other potential problems before administering the vaccine. Influenza (Flu)
We recommend that everyone get a seasonal flu shot by October every year. Flu is more likely to cause severe illness in pregnant women. Changes in the immune system, heart, and lungs during pregnancy make them (and women who have recently given birth) more prone to severe illness from flu, as well as to hospitalizations and even death. Getting the flu during pregnancy also raises the risks of pregnancy complications, including premature labor and delivery. Studies have shown that vaccinating a pregnant woman can pass antibodies on to the baby that will protect against flu for six months after birth. Anyone with a severe, life-threatening allergy to any of the vaccine ingredients (such as egg protein) should not get the shot. Your healthcare provider will advise you on alternatives to the flu shot. Read more >>
