Gynecological exams are not needed until age 21 unless you have ever been sexually active or are having problems with your menstrual cycle, vaginal discharge or breast abnormalities.
You should also start getting a regular pap smear test at age 21.
At your first gynecological exam, you will have a breast exam. No pelvic exam is needed unless you are sexually active or depending on what problems you are experiencing.
You can also discuss any concerns with our medical staff, including birth control and other treatment options.
